I did the same dang thing on my A4. My dog was about to jump out of the window and I grabbed him, in the process I broke of the lid of my console from the back of the hinges. I don't know what to do either, just try to put it back and not to hit it hard again...that's what I do, but I still would like a new one. I feel your pain

I also broke off the hinge. Sounds like this is a fairly common problem. If only there were an easy solution.

This is a VERY common problem. I'm in the club too

BTW, the 98 and up center console fits and works/looks better but the front doesn't come up quite high enough so you have to find something to fill the gap between the little box thingy and the bottom of your dash/ac/radio console.

DjArcadian, did you buy the whole new console or just the lid? I can't believe you paid $45 for a replacement

As said above this is VERY common.

I'm going to fix mine with some epoxy, it's not like you will see it anyways.

before I put my 97+ console in, I just fixed the hinge with epoxy. if you are careful it shouldn't break. but if there is any force on it it will snap. You can buy a new lid for about 45 bucks.

When you put in the 02 console what did you use to fill that ugly gap? I've heard of some installing a box thing outta the center console from a fox body...

Just curious, got any pics?

Thanks.

Swap it to a late 97 or newer. Looks nicer, very easy to do, costs less than 200 brand new from Next Gen.

i bought a $1 hinge from True Value and fixed it on my 95Z...took prob 15 minutes. it would have snapped if you yanked on it again, but just be careful with it...

TA's dont have the gap problem, it only applys to 93-96 Camaros. Some guy did use a small part out of a 94-98? Stang to fill the gap, there was someone else who fabbed up a covering made of carpet to match the interior that didnt look too bad either. My console lid is busted too so 97+ one is goin in sometime soon.

i put the display for my cd changer in that space. it is only about a 2 and half inch gap. it really doesn't look that bad.

If you dont mind paying $60 I know of a website that sells console parts. Entire consols, lids, all kinds of stuff.
