HELP! Installing Airfoil!
HELP! Installing Airfoil!
OK I'm installing my airfoil and I have no idea how! I bought it from a member of the board, so i', not sure what brand it is. It looks like a half circle thingie (similiar to the one Thunder Racing sells) and it also has a additional screw thats about two inches, and has a silver thing on the end. Sorry I am being vaugue, but that's all I got!
Anyways the cover to my TB is off but it doesn't look like there's anyway in hell this thing will fit and still have the plate go back on. How do I install this?

The throttle body airfoil I bought (JET TPI Airfoil) just slid into the corrugation of the intake elbow--then I just reattached the elbow to the throttle body. Mine did not come with a screw though. Sorry this isn't very helpful, but you can probably rule it out as being a JET airfoil.
When the TB cover is off like you have it, you should see light from a little hole in the front of the TB. The airfoil goes in the front of the TB, and the screw goes thru the hole in the airfoil and the TB. The round thing goes on the end of the screw at the top of the TB and with screw down and hold the airfoil in place.

Mine doesn't have a screw either, but it will more than likely stick out quite a ways. It will not be flush to the TB. I would say the screw is a device to somehow tighten it up while in there. Does the airfoil have a hole in either top or bottom and will the screw fit into any holes in the TB? Look for a place to put the screw into the front of the TB and see if it goes without the airfoil present. If so, see if it fits in the hole. If it does I would say put the screw through the airfoil now and into the TB hole and tighten up.
You have to take the cover off the throttle body and remove the elbow from the throttle body as well. The foil goes in through the front opening so you can align it then you can put the screw in from the top to hold it. You can't put the foil in from the top.

Well I finished.....the biggest PITA was getting the screw to line up with the specal nut thing, and I still don't think it's perfect but if I notice anything off I'll go to fix it. Also I can never get the rubber tube that goes from the TB back on easily. How does everyone else do it?
The gasket had some PB Blaster on it, so I'm letting it dry now before putting back in at a later time. Does this matter?
How much HP will this give me?

I did mine for the hell of it at the same time as I did the 1LE elbow. This was after the CAI and exhaust were already installed and I can't honestly say I felt any big improvement, it was more of an "every little bit helps" thing.
Here's a link for the HP question:

I've had trouble getting my elbow back on the throttle body as well. Matter of fact, when I pulled my elbow off I noticed half of the bottom lip was actually on the inside rather than wrapping around the bottom of the throttle body. I'm fairly sure that it was like that from the factory because only one person owned the car before me and they didn't touch a thing on it. So I really don't think there are any tricks to speak of--just be sure you get it wrapped all the way around.
