Helicoil in Accessory Bracket Question
Helicoil in Accessory Bracket Question
I have to helicoil the power steering pump bolt holes as they stripped out on the dyno. I got a package of M8 X 1.25 helicoils, but they're short. They're only about 1/2 the length of the threads on the bolt itself.
Should I just use one helicoil for each bolt, or should I snip the end off of a second helicoil and drive it in on the first to create a longer one????
Thanks!

Re: Helicoil in Accessory Bracket Question
Don't recall the exact ratio necessary, but having twice in the length of thread compared to the diameter of the fastener, is overkill. If you had thread diameter times 1-1¼ for the thread length, you should have more than adequate bolt thread penetration.
