heads/cam/headers project ?'s
Hey guys...
well heres the story.. i blew a head gasket in late november, tore it apart and decided to do rebuild and heads/cam project. -The heads are getting a fully p/p, milled, comp valve job, new springs seats, guides. I also got crane gold 1.6 rr's, comp springs and lifters, hd timing set. all head work is done by SpeedFreak inc. -The cam is a comp custom grind w/ 266/262 dur. and .520/525 lift. -Port-matched intake and exhaust ports. -exhaust is mac headers 1 5/8.. and ypipe, to hiflow cat, and slp lm. -slp cai w/ free ram air scoop -descreened/polished maf -ported/polish tb -basic free mods, tb bypass, fra, and fan switch i was wondering what u guys thought i would be looking at for numbers hp and 1/4 time wise.... thanks guys ohh yea quick ?'s will my car be too loud lol i loved the sound w/ the lm on stock, but i got pulled over a few times.. lol i love it tho |
I would guess around 380 horsepower, so many variables though. 1/4 times should be in the low 12's...
|
ttt.....
by the way i am also planning on tunning by pcmforless.com, and getting nittos and 4.10 gears.. |
Yeah I would agree with Rodrigues, about 380 or more depending on how good your heads flow, you get bigger valves too?.
P.S. If your gonna get cam get a CAM, go with a bigger cam!! youll love it;) and expect to be investing in a 12 bolt in the future |
ttt....
oh i do have a couple of other questions.. -w/ that cam im getting what does it compare to? -can i expect a decent gain from the tuning? -as far as traction goes, i have goodyear gsc's now will i have difficulty? -would an afpr and pullies lower my times at all and what gains could i expect outa them? THANKS |
Are your cam duration values @.050 or seat-to-seat?
|
i say skip the pullies, but thats me
|
I know this is like 10 days since the last post, but whatev..
I would most definetely say tuning is a must, and you should see pretty decent gains from it. about the pullies, i agree with chesee48, skip em', save your mulah for something else. Traction problems?.... probably, if not most definitely, and for sure on the track. I would also say go bigger on the cam. Go big or go home ;) But for real, you should definitely consider it. Most people on this board (not all) who get a mildish cam regret it in a couple month and with they went bigger to begin with. And yeah, whether this cam, or a bigger one, and epsecially since you have an M6, prepare yourself in the future for a new rear. Goodluck!!! -Chris |
