headlight gremlins

Ok I am going on a roadtrip tomorrow but my lights are acting up (just started happening 5 minutes ago). My driver side headlight will flip up once I start the car, and will go down after I turn it off, even if my light switch is turned off.

Then my passenger side headlight won't flip up at all, I have to manually crank it up... I mean if a quick fix is disconnecting the driver and passenger side motor so I don't look like a flaming idiot, thats fine.

What do you think is the problem with the headlights?
If I have to, How do I disconnect the light motors?

When you do put them up and down do you hear the motor still turning? A while back i had a problem with my headlights also. It would flip up and quickly return down every time i hit the keyfob to lock/unlock the car. It turned out that the gear inside was stripped and for some reason was the cause of this. Listen for a gear slipping noise when putting them up and down. There is a free fairly easy to do repair that has worked for me for about a year and half so far. Try a search and headlight gear or something similar.

To get you through your trip though you could simply crank them up manually and disconnect the headlight motor. The plug is around where the manual crank is, just look around and you'll find it.
