Headers HP and TQ gains

hey i guys im fixing install some headers in my 94Z A4. they are Pacesetter LT's with ORY and LM1. i was wanting to know if anybody had ever dynoed their car after the LT headers and just a catback. see my car is completely stock with the exception of the LM1.

I never dynoed mine, but I couldnt tell any difference from any mod except the bottle. But I have raced an exhaust/intake LT1 and pulled 3+ cars easily off the bottle.

That's strange, we put long tubes on my buddy's L98 Trans Am and you could feel it, not so much down low, but you could really feel it up top. Not necessarily seat of the pants, but we could tell a difference.

would expect to get like 20 at the wheels or maybe even more?

For an NA car, ~20rwhp is typical. Nitorus and forced induction gain more.

When I did MAC midlength headers, Hooker catback, K&N CAI, and MadZ28 Tune I went from 255/290 to 285/320, so 30 rwtq 30 rwhp. This was through a single high flow cat, which probably robbed me of 3-5 HP.

I gained 4 mph in the 1/4 mile

Your results should be close. I am a M6 though, so I maybe gained a couple more HP than a A4 might.

cool. i ran a 14.5 completely stock last summer. i recently added a LM1. i'm gonna do the headers within a month or so. how much would it lower my times at the track?

stereomandan May 8, 2007 12:49 PM

It should get you another 2, maybe 3 mph. How much your times change depend on how well you can drive. Too many variables.

I noticed a Difference with my headers I gained a little over two tenths on the quarter and 3mph

I noticed when I added my headers it definitely helped my top-end, sound was much better... Hooker LTs with 4" ORY to a Magnaflow catback makes my car sound so so so much better.

Btw don't forget o2 extensions so the harness reaches the LTs!

i've seen some cars take off as much as .4 off their times. with just headers. so can i expect something like that off my time?

I went from stock manifolds, stock single cat and muff to Kooks LTs with twin cats and true 2.5" duals over the axle and straight thru muffs and went from 236rwhp to 274rwhp with no other changes on the '95 TA

Its hard to put a specific number on those types of things, but you should definitely see some gains. After doing long tubes on my car, there was definitely a SOTP difference.

You might want to put a sig that has your car model, transmission, and mods so people can give you a good estimate of what you'll get.
