Head Machining

Will 2" and 1.6" valves fit in stock LT1 heads without machining them?

Re: Head Machining

They should fit fine. Most people run 2.0/1.57 valves though.

Re: Head Machining

the stock LT1 valves are 1.94/1.50 and anything other than this will require machining. The stock seats can be machined to accept a 2.00/1.56 valve and anything larger needs larger seats installed.

Some people run 2.02/1.60 valves with no problem but they are just machining the seats as large as possible (perfect for the 2.00/1.56 valves) and installing the 2.02/1.60 valves instead. There is no advantage of using the 2.02/1.60 valves over the 2.00/1.56 valves since the seat is not any larger.

Re: Head Machining

you can run 2.00 and 1.60 with just having a simple regrind done but to run the 2.02 or larger you will need new intake seats which aint that much $9 a piece to install and like $5 for each seat
