Head Bolts

Hey guys........gonna be putting my heads back on soon and a lot of people been saying to buy new head bolts. Are they really needed?

I cant remember if the stock bolts were tq to yield and if they are then they can only be used once. I would just go ahead and get some ARP's.

It's not a good idea and new ones - even stock replacement new ones - would be your best bet for peace of mind. ARP's, obviously would be the best choice. Don't forget to chase the threads in the block to clean them out. False torque readings also don't help

i have a set of ARP bolts with 200miles on them for 30+ship

First off thanks for the info.....second....what are APR's and where do you get them? Someone mentioned something about putting "Anti-seize" on the bolts...

ARP is a brand name. Most places that sell aftermarket parts have them (Summit, Jegs, etc.). You use thread sealant on head bolts, not anti-seize.

Yes you need new bolts. I got some from gmpartsdirect.com for about 20 I think. Good peace of mind.
