having a poly motor mount emergency here
 

ok guys just bought poly mounts from autozone (energy suspension) and when i went to put them on i noticed the mount was actually loose in between the clamshells-- like looser than the the stock rubber mounts

WTFFF

I bought mounts and they required assembly using the old clam shells. When done right they will be sandwiched in very tight.

ya man thats what im saying my passenger side one is NOT at all tight its actually loose i can kind of wiggle it in between the clamshells even when the clamshells are pressed all the way together

so what do you guys think the deal is here, just crappy energy suspension poly's?

should i return them and order prothane ?

First off, you got it at autozone so that doubles the likelyhood that they gave you the wronge mount. If its the wronge mount which it seems to be then you need to take it back with your clam shell mounts and size it up at the store to make sure you get the right one. Ive heard that some people had to use a vice to get the shell on all the way flush using poly replacements.

Or you could put it all together with the clam shell fasened down and give the shell a few whacks with a sledge hammer. I bet that would make it a tight fit.

I actualy had to cut my mounts down because they were too big to fit in the shells. I beleive I ordered mine through ws6store. I think they are a vendor for this site actualy. I would go ahead and return those autozone ones and order online.

right thats what im going to do b/c no these things went on by hand, and it was loose in between the shells no compression whatsoever let alone needing a vise.

what do you guys recommend? what brand?

i was going to return these energy suspension for prothane ones what do you think?

Jegs has prothane for $72.99 for both engine mounts and the tranny mount

they probly just gave you the wrong ones

Did you maybe try matching the part number to anything online, maybe the company lists them specifically on their website?

I don't have any personal experience in this area, but a lot of people use energy suspension mounts without issue. If they aren't the correct mounts, that's not energy suspension's fault.

You could maybe check the part numbers against Summit Racing, or other sites that sell those mounts, to try and get some idea of whether you got the wrong part.

ya guys i checked the part number it IS the correct part. its just loose. it fits in there like it should i mean its obvious its "supposed'' to be for the lt1 mount but its just not "TIGHT'' in between the clamshells which is b/c of poor quality. or maybe i just got the one bunk mount in the batch but i doubt it.

so about those prothanes... is that a good deal (in my last post)

If they're the correct mounts, I don't know what to tell you because I've never changed my own.

I know this thread is old but a friend of mine is having the same issue as the original poster. The passenger side motor mount is loose in the clamshell. We have crossed reference the part number and the part is correct. Will it make a difference if the polyurethane is somewhat loose inside the clamshell? What is the best way to remedy this issue?

Install it and see if the weight of the motor repositions it towards one side or the other.
