Have a lifter tick, what to do??

I notced a lifter tick on the passenger side of my car. So, I assume I need to replace them. Where is the best place to pick up a set? I've seen them for about $400. Anyonoe have a better price? THanks a lot. Also, should I replace anything else while I'm at it?

To replace the lifters, you'll have to pop the valve coverrs off, loosen the rockers, turn them to the side, and pull the pushrods out.

Then you'll have to yank the intake, remove the spider, and pull out the lifters.

Not sure if it's your lifters or not, could be exhaust leak, or a couple different things.

Should you replace anything else? Most definitely...since you're already in there...Roller rockers

$400 is ridiculous. You can get them for ~$200 or a little more depending on if anyone;s having a sale. Or you can get some replacement stock types for ~$140 or so from Clevite etc.

When I had the ticking coming from my number one cylinder, I pulled the lifter and found the roller surface was all pitted so I had to replace the cam too. I also upgraded to 1.6 rockers. You might not need to, but check the cam if the lifter is bad.

I had the same problem with my lifters and it ended up being that a lifter had a flat spot on the roller and trashed my cam. It's a good excuse to get a new cam and since your in there anyways replace them all and maybe even put in some better push rods and roller rockers. Also you can do a good clean up on the inside of the intake and clean the runners up a bit.
