hard starting after sitting, why?
hard starting after sitting, why?
My car sat for about a week and when i went to start it, it wouldn't start. It was cranking, but wouldn't turn over. It finally started after cranking it and giving it gas while doing so. It's done this a few other times also, any ideas as to the cause? thanks in advance
That sounds than what I experience, but when I let my car sit for a week or in the spring when I first start it after 5 months the car takes a bit longer to crank. I think its because the fuel pressure very slowly bleeds off. If I turn the key but do not start it and let the fuel pump run for a moment, it starts faster than any other car I have ever owned.

I think its just cause it sat there, As long as it runs and starts fine after it sits and you start it dont worry about it. My 88' caprice would fire right up in 1 crank if i drove it everyday, If i let it sit for a week it would be stubborn and take 5 or 6. After that it start on one crank again.
