Are Guide Plates Worth It??
I bent a pushrod about 2 weeks ago, and now I'm about to get to work and fix my car. So, I'm about to buy hardend pushrods. Are guideplates worth it? Right now I have a TPIS ZZ409 cam, P&P Stage 3 heads from Precision Porting, 1.6 Comp Cams Pro Mag 1.6 SA rockers. They're only $25 bucks for all 8, so I thought it'd be worth the extra cash. Thanks.
Re: Are Guide Plates Worth It??
You can't run guide plates and self-aligning rockers, one or the other. Hardened push rods would be fine. Why did you bend the push rod? I strongly advise checking all of your valve train clearances.
Re: Are Guide Plates Worth It??
guide plates will help with rockers... prevent a broken piece from getting down into the motor and having a piston.... see what im saying?? If your going to replace your rockers... get some NSA ones, and guideplates... but yeah, hardened pushrods should be just fine.
Re: Are Guide Plates Worth It??
I bent a pushrod because my #8 intake wasn't set properly. So, the rocker was too loose and the pushrod came loose. Then it bent. Everything else looks fine on the car.
Re: Are Guide Plates Worth It??
The most that i know them to do is provide peice of mind for people. I think it there is also less of a chance to bend a pushrod. I would just stick with what ya got cause its kind of expensive to buy new rrs.
Re: Are Guide Plates Worth It??
It may be awhile until this is fixed anyways. I just don't feel like working on my car. And my roommate is out for a couple more weeks, so no extra hands. I'll get at it before the snow falls.
Then it will go straight to storage.
