this is getting so old!!! OVERHEATING
ok this is the deal. My car keeps overheating doesn't matter if on the highway or city streets. I have bleed the lines, put new fluid, tried running it with out the thermostat, and ran it with the MAF disconected. Nothing seems to make a difference. I did change the opti last summer and had a little problem after that but nothing like now. I also get very little heat out of the heater(thought that might be the 160 thermostat). The fans seem to work fine when the MAF is not hooked up, but I haven't seen them go on high with it hooked up right. Although even with it disconected it dosen't seem to help. I have pulled up past post but none seem to have much of an answer.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Well if your heater doesent work well and your are over heating (like you are) I bet your heater coil is clogged up. Change that and all should be well. Good thing the part only costs like 20-25 bucks, bad thing is it is a bltch to replace it.
Autozone sells flush system. Its worth a try but who knows if it will do the trick. Also any GM dealership can do a complete system flush for around 60-70 bucks I think. They use a machine to flush it. But there is no telling if that will work .
Also if you dont need the heat you could simply bypass the heater coil. Good luck!

your probably not getting heat cuz of your 160 degree thermostat. But you can also flush ur heater core its easy takes like 45 min. You will see two coolant hoses running into the fire wall of you engine. Disconnect the two put a garden hose on both ends. Hook one of the garden hoses on the faucet and turn it on then put the other one on the faucet and turn it out. Should help your heat out a lot
You sure your waterpump isn't broken? I would try the flush. Double check the fluid fill instructions (in your Camaro manual), check the stat (maybe it's bad. Put it some boiling water to see if it opens up). Check hoses. Someone once said that a bad radiator cap caused air to get in their radiator which made it overheat. Make sure the secondary fan is turning on when it overheats. Make sure nothing is blocking the fans.
I went through the same thing several years ago. Had the radiator power flushed, heater core leaked and barely put out any heat...could not get the the engine to stop over heating until I replaced the radiator. I even locked the fans on "high" and nothing worked. I called Dal and got a new radiator...that solved all my problems...
YOu're wasting your time flushing the heater core, if you want to cool the engine. The heater may not be puttin out heat because the coolant level is low from boiling over etc. Or it could be that the core is actually plugged. This does not sound unlikely to me, since you could have a gummed up radiator AND a gummed up heater core. This would account for both problems. Best to take it ot a rad shop and ask them to have a peek at both.
Have you replaced your radiator cap?....try that....before you go out and buy a new heater core...pull the lines off and join the two lines that come from the water pump together....that way you'll be bypassing the heater core, if it still overheats than its not your heater core....as for the fans working with the maf dis-connected thats because when you disconnect the maf, the computer goes into limp mode and turns the fans on at all times...have your car hooked up to a scanner to verify that the temperature that the gauge is showing is actually the real temperature of the engine..maybe the Coolant Temp sensor is not working properly-(happened to me a couple months ago)...good luck..sorry if i repeated someone elses post....
my car was overheating it ended up my cat was plugged might be worth while to check that. i tried everythig on mine wp, theromostat, flush, and rad cap ended up the cat was completely pluged
