Fuse Box info...

Hey guys,

Im wondering if I can hook up my radar detector and some under dash lights to the acc (Accessory) fuse that is located in the fuse box. Its a unused one pronged fuse plug holder. I can take a pic with my digital cam and post it if anyones unclear about the fuse box layout.

Also whats a good fuse to run off of the single prong acc? I hope it can deal with the radar detector and the 2 (blue) lights Im adding under the dash.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yep, you can put a 10, 15 or 20 amp for that spot.

Sure, you can use it. The accy, ign and bat terminals are there for extra stuff. They are actually already fused.

bat fused by cigar/accy fuse (hot all the time)

accy fused by wiper/wash fuse (hot in accy or start, run)

ign fused by gages fuse (hot in start, run only)

You can still put an inline fuse on your circuit if you want. If the lights are really LEDs they won't pull much juice. Your detector should have some specs that say how many amps it pulls, again probably not much. A 10a or even 5a fuse on your circuit should suffice.

I put 2 20" streetglow's and a radar detector up to my cigarette lighter fuse...i also tried hooking up (but never installed) 6 8" neons w/ a radar detector to the cigarette lighter and i never blew it...

Hey guys thanks a million for your help! Much appreciated. My dad bought a kit for his camaro to hardwire in the RD (radar detector). I just cant remember where from tho but they are out there. It came with the plug and wire and the rest he just wired into the power.

Im running 2 bulb style lights, not LED's, and the radar detector but Im sure it wont pull too much amps. I can figure it out with the ratings of the RD and the lights with a voltmeter. Thanks again!:D
