fuel injector recommendations

fuel injector recommendations

what brand and how much do they cost? I have the stock 22 /hr injcetors for now and want the 24 lb/hr like the 94-ups. should be fine with 24 lb/hr right? no nitrous or SC'er here. Just a fun 12-13 second car being built here. There are soon going to be gears(here already, just got to get installed), headers, and a MSD 6A installed? Is 24 lb/hr a good selection for this setup that I have listed? Thanks!!!

24s will be just fine.
Go with some Ford SVO 24#ers. You can get them used on this site, sometimes you can get them for $199 new on ebay or $22X at www.summitracing.com.

They were initially rated at 39.2 PSI and we run 43.5, so they will actually flow a little more at our pressure. (which gives you a little extra room for HP)

You shouldn't need to upgrade your injectors at all considering the setup your talking about. The only time you would need to upgrade is when, you have built up a nice motor, using NOS, adding a turbo or blower, or all of the above.

good luck getting it into the 12's, its gona be ruff without a nice motor or some kind of power adder.

12s will come. Just not right now because of $$. I have a extra set of heads I'm sending for porting/polishing to Advanced Induction. I'm also gonna get a stroker kit next year hopefully. My car is a neverending project for the pursuit of more speed. Just a fun hot rod.

Well in that case kill 2 birds in one stone and get yourself some really big injectors so you don't have to buy another set down the road.
Best bang for the buck is #42 fms injectors.
If they still make em.

Your gona need an adjustable fuel reg.
And some way of tunning your cars computer.

I run the times below on stock fuel, PCMforLess programming, and a 13.5:1 A/F ratio across the board.

42# might be a bit much as they will support about 575 horsepower. Unless you lower the fuel pressure lots these most likely be a waste. If you lower it too much, the spray pattern will will not be correct.
Just my 2 cents.
If you decide that you need some 24# I can match up a set of some good used ones for you.

Actually i ran #42 injectors on a stock motor for a while.
I understand what your trying to say angry but if you leave the fuel pressure at around stock setting and reprogram the computer for the #42 injectors the computer will automatically adjust the injector pulse with and the car will run very well.

Mike is correct if you would like to reprogram your PCM for the big one's. Larger injectors are just bit harder to tune is all I wanted to point out.
Since it looks like you already have a custom program, you may want to start doing your own programming.

Nope, I used to have the bottle. Before the cam, and on stock 2.73 gears I ran 12.00@114 with a crappy 1.81 60'. It was a wet shot. I developed some wierd vacuum leak and sold the bottle and got the cam.

Before the cam I ran 12.9@104 w/ 1.77 60. The cam picked me up 7 tenths and 5 mph (edit: and the drag wheels too, all runs were on ET Streets), primarily because it put my power up in the rpm range. That big converter was missing all the torque with the stock cam. That allowed me to 60' considerably better, which netted me the best gain.

Now I'm doing suspension, then rear end/tranny/built motor, and then I'm going back to the bottle.

Well if I were you I'd go with 30#'s. I just did my 383 and did 100s of hours of research and 30's was the way to go. You could also use them with your motor now without much problems except a tune. You don't need any bigger than that unless you got a turbo or blown or something wild.

Dunno how much Racetronics charge but I got mine for 255 shipped.

I have a set of 1997 Camaro injectors that were used for under 20,000 miles. You can have them for $75 shipped, lower 48 states.

If you get injectors that are too big it is a little tougher to tune. However, if you have to buy multiples sets of injectors then that will become costly. I went from stock to 36#/hr then to 72#/hr injectors.
