Fuel Block Relay...

I just picked up a new relay box for the fuel relay, the problem is it's a five wire and my current only has four wires going to it.
Anyone know how to get around this or will it not work at all. The relay fits, it just has an extra wire coming out of the block...

Are you saying you bought a new fuel pump relay and it has an extra terminal? Chances are, you can ignore the extra terminal and go on. Lots of relays are like that. As long as you are not missing one you do need. :)

Nope, it's the relay box. The part the relay connects into.

Oh ok. Guess I was not thinking that anyone would ever need that. :) Again though, as long as it has all the wires that were in the old one, you can just ignore the spare. As I recall, later model relays had more wires.

the problem with ignoring the spare is I am not 100% sure which one is the spare, seeing how the new block wires are all one color.

Doh! What's up with that? Lemme do some looking and I will post back.
What year are we talking about?

It's a 94.. I appreciate the help. :)

I can take a pic of the new one if that helps.

Your relay should be marked with some standard pin numbers.

Pink +12v /hot when key is ON/to relay pin 30

Grey- relay power to fuel pump and bridged to prime connector by pcm/to relay pin 87

Drk Grn/White- fuel pump relay control from pcm (should be hot for 2 seconds when key is turned ON and hot when engine is running)/to relay pin 85

Blk/White- ground/to relay pin 86

These should be the 4 wires you need.

This pic may or may not help you in some way.

Shoebox, I know this is an old post, but this information just helped me fix a frustrating problem. Thanks.
