Free 94/95 LT1 Scanning Software - PCM/ABS/SRS - For 93 Also (Except SRS)

One of our recent members has developed scanning software for the 94/95 LT1 PCM. It also reads the ABS (EBCM) codes. I've followed the development of this on Firebird Nation and this is the real deal. Some of the stuff GaryDoug has been able to extract from the system, and the way he has analyzed the workings of the PCM through a full engine simulator is mind-bending. I guess electrical engineers have it all over us mechanical engineers when it comes to this kind of tech!!!

The link is in a post "stickied" on the "Computer Programming and Diagnostics" forum:

PLEASE POST ALL QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS SOFTWARE IN THE THREAD LINKED IMMEDIATELY ABOVE.

Glad you were able to sticky it Fred, truly amazing that he put in all the design time and made this available for free :)

Fred I have to say thank you for posting this as Doug's software is amazing!!!! I used it last night and it is so much easier than Datamaster and has a very user friendly/clean interface. I am also extremely impressed at how I can now diagnose the ABS and SRS systems as well, when before the only way was to utilize a TechII tool. I'm loving it so far and I also love the feature allowing you to check parameters like fans, switches and warning lights from the control center without having the car running. An excellent program indeed and I look forward to updates. Keep us posted and I suggest to add this as a Sticky if not already.

Thanks for the feedback.... I'll make sure Gary is aware. I followed the development of this on Firebird Nation where I'm an Administrator, and either Gary is a genius, or this stuff is much easier that it appears to us mere mortals. He had this figured out in a couple days. Hard to understand why TTS and others haven't updated their outdated software to cover ABS and SRS.

And yes, it needs to be a "sticky"

Yup, I would have loved to have this program two years ago when I was trying to diagnose my Air Bag light as it turned out I had a bad SRS module. And again last year when I had a bad wheel speed sensor causing an ABS problem. Both times the only solution was a TechII tool and short of the dealer and spending over a $100 per time I had to trial and error to find the issues. This program would have helped me pinpoint both problems and save tons of time. Excellent work Gary!!!

Aloha Injuneer,
My name is Sonny. I'm extremely new to the forum aspect and to be honest I'm sure I'll be making a few mistakes, just trying to stay on the forum. As I stated earlier, very, very new to this. I have a 95 Z28 and a OBD 2 scanner. It was recently brought to my attention that I actually have an OBD 1 system with a OBD 2 connector, which explains a lot but not to why GM would do such a crazy thing.
Read your post on the gentleman by the name of Gary Doug, who developed software specifically for the 94 & 95 Z28's. Could you kindly assist me as to where and how I can attain the software and what is needed to implement it. The link to the software isn't working, cause it sends me to a network error page. Also may I assume that the software was developed to be used on a laptop, maybe even a tablet computer, thus no need for an OBD scanner.
Any help to this newbie, all the way in Hawaii will be greatly appreciated!

The link in my post above works fine for me. If it's not working for you, go to the "Computer Diagnostics and Tuning" forum and look at the "stickies" at the top of the topic listing page.

Quick question for Gary or somebody who has used a connector like this? I found a 12 pin obd1 to obd2 adapter online for $15 and a obd2 plug to USB online for $10. Will this connect up right to properly read my PCM?

This is the links for the cables I'm talking about. Total cost would run less than $25.

I think it would be better if you would post questions about cables, operating systems, etc. in the thread on the "Computer Diagnostics....." forum. That way, Gary doesn't have to jump to various forums looking for questions to answer.

That being said, I'll copy your two posts to that forum, and close this thread.
