Found my answer to "but how do you fix it"

I thought coolant on my opti caused my car to quit a half mile from home last Thursday, but, I was wrong. Actually,a coil connector backed off past the detent clip! Since I have tried to start my car no less than twelve times in the last four days, my oil level has risen slightly with gasoline wash. So,when I started it for the first time tonight, most of the lifters were ticking loudly.I shut it off pretty quick. It looks like my Mobil One is only going about 200 miles this time. I'm really at an emotional low with the engine's current ticking, so please tell me that an oil change is going to cure it! Would the raw fuel have sunk to the bottom of the pan to cause this? I tried to post a similar reply an hour ago and my 'puter locked up. So bare with me if it got through.

you had a bad coil wire, and it caused the car to malfunction.
You tried to start the car either knowing of this malfunction or not knowing, and think you may have flooded the motor?

Let the car run despite the ticking, and see how it adjust. If it quiets down after it's warmed up it might be something else. If it still permits... there's some investigating to do.

If you have gas in the oil, change the oil first. Then start it up and see how the ticking is. Use a dyno oil, and then if the ticking goes away, go back to your regular oil. Just don't use to thin of an oil.
