Fixing Leak on #1 slip fit primary

I can only think of one thing that might work. One of those exhaust tools that are supposed to expaned the pipe.

I'm not sure what you mean. It has a normal slipfit like other exhaust peices do, and it has a clamp on it with a bolt that tightens it. I have tried to get it as tight as possible but it still leaks. Is there any type of exhaust sealing silicone i can put in there to seal it up tighter?

You can use Copper Seal RTV, and one of the Stainless 3" wide band clamps that you can get from Thunder, Summit or Jegs.

I had mine welded....took care of the leak and the only downside is having to remove the steering arm to get the header on or off. It's just two bolts and slides right out, so not that big of a deal to me living in Texas where bolts don't rust too bad. I'd look for a different solution if I lived up north though.....

Ger a stainless 3" wide band clamp and put on it. It won't leave a crease like a regular clamp so ya can get it apart again.

I had the same problem with my Z that I sold, just buy a small muffler clamp (U-bolt with 2 nuts) the exact same diameter of the pipe and snug it down.
It will crush the pipe slightly, but the pipe will be still removable in the future.
I beleive it was a 1 5/8" clamp, but it has been a while so not for sure on size.

That was helpful. :irk:

Anyway, neither has my slip joint on the MAC's. I used Ultra Copper RTV when I put it together and got a few long extensions for the socket wrench and tightened it down good. The first time, I tightened it down so hard the bolt broke, so I got a new bolt and nut from the hardware store and tightened it down TIGHT. No leaky.

Smear a good amount of the silicon on both of the mating surfaces. You might want to put a sacrificial O2 sensor in for a while, or put a bolt in the O2 whole, because the RTV can mess with the O2's as the extra burns off.
