First Time on Dyno - sheet inside

Did a dyno run for the first time and thought I'd post in here to get some feedback. My best hp is 254 and my tq 294. Looks a lil squirrely around 5K and my A/F looks tweaked. So what do you make of it. So I might need a lil help here because I'm still new at trying to get car running good. Next time I dyno I'm going to have cutout open and compare that sheet to this.

Dyno Sheet

Here's what's on it:
slp cai
gms maf
slp shorties
no cats
flowmaster
cutout closed
also just had the pcm mail order tuned

new plugs, wires, opti, fuel filter
91 gas full tank

Seems like today was a lot of peoples first's at the dyno. Here's my sheet I got today. Link.

My mods are a K&N CAI and Hooker cat-back. You can't see my peak torque for the first run because the graph goes over it, but it was a 298.4.

Looks like we're both running pretty rich, which would account for a decent chunk of hp loss.

..I was actually just checking out your post. I guess these numbers are about average for these LT1's. Yep, first time doing the dyno and this is all new to me. I wish I had time to take my cutout plate off so I can see something higher, kinda kickin myself in the rear right now. Anyhow, I'm trying to see what happened with my A/F..yours looks pretty solid as it curves down, mine goes poo-poo at 5K on the last two runs.

Not to mention they were revvin' the living crap outta your car! You must've had your rev limiter taken out, because it looks like they were hitting 6100 or so.

seriously, I thought my car was going to blow up...I was like uhh...you can stop now. It remided me of the time in HS watching a kid get beatup on the ground and get punched over and over again as blood squirts everywhere. It seemed like the dyno guy punched the gas at the wrong time or something, he was trying to catch that perfect wot window. My car sounded like it was already at 6K from the beginning, it was horrible. Seemed like the other camaros that dynod climbed the rpm's pretty decent and easy, but yeah..you could tell by watching my car that it was struggling...maybe it was just my first time but it just didn't seem right.

Those numbers are about 15 hp low. Simething is going on with the ignition it looks like, and your a/f is super low. Way too rich. Get those figured out and your set.

I'm going to see what's up with the tuning that was recently done. I'll dyno it again soon with a stock pcm and go to the same dyno and compare the difference of the two. I'll post back sometime with the results. Anyhow, as for my ignition...everything is new except for my coil. I've recently replaced the opti, wires, plugs and whole bunch of other stuff. I bought the car at 88K mi and now it has 109k mi. I was totally excepting higher numbers and I wish my cutout was open for the runs but I couldnt get to the plate and didnt have any tools on me. Next time I hope for around 270 with an open cutout, fixed A/F and re-Tuned. Ohwell, in the meantime I'll be trying to work this all out.

They asked what RPM to take it to? If not...run...seriously, if you say take it to 5800 and they take it to 6200 and it pops...they might be liable.

BUT...I work at a dyno shop and many times the tachs in cars are WAY OFF. It might have said 5700 in the car and be 6100 actual.

Also have a bud that dynoed his 5.0...kept getting out of it at 4500 rpm, way early, because his tach said he was at 5500. Motor was barely turning.

Did you get ur car dyno'ed at ATP in freemont?
If so i got my car dyno'ed there about 8 months ago and i put down 281rwhp with just a CAI and Catback. So i always thought there dyno read high because i only put down 283 on another dynojet after my longtube header install. But i guess that could just be because of my horrible a/f ratio.

looks like I fixed my A/F problem... It was my Granatelli MAF. I'm not all that experienced with reading parameters so bare with me here...I was looking at my Autotap file from a few weeks ago and It was a WOT run and my A/F was showing the same thing I dyno'd. I used my Autotap scanner today and thought I would put the stock MAF back in. I put my stock MAf in with the screen and fin ends and then I did probably 5 minutes of driving. I then got on the freeway and did a WOT and started to logg... well, my A/F brought me be back to 13-12's instead of 11's and 10's...I did two more WOT's so the readings are keeping put. I even checked my A/F guage when I did this and I no longer hit Rich. Anyhow, just thought I would share the info.

How did you know what your A/F was without having an O2 sensor which could sense the difference between 10,11,12,13...? I know on the dyno you can check your A/F but without it you need another tool which is kind of costly.
Thanks,
Sherwin

Are you running with a stock tune? Getting a tune from Ion@Madz28.com should help some of the richness as the factory tune definatly runs on the rich side. Although something besides that seems amiss with the numbers you put down. With a CAI and catback only I put down 254 rwhp & 291 rwtq through stock manifolds & CAT.

Actually my car is tuned.....Well, from what I read in these forums..my ratio at WOT should be around 13's to 12's...right? So, I did some searches on here and I saw a posting that Injuneer and Brent replied to about aftermarket MAF's that are ported and have no screen possibly messing up A/F ratios. At first I was thinking that my tune was bad but I knew that couldnt be it. Then I was thinking maybe it was because I still had injector cleaner in my tank but that I didnt really think on that too much. Right now at WOT, my car hits 11-10 ratio. So today after reading that post I just mentioned, that made me think that my Tune I had done was fine and that my GMS MAF possibly could be hurting my performance. I switched my MAF back to my stock and did a log. Now at WOT, My Autotap now shows 13's -12's ratio as normal... from what I have been told on here 13-12's ratio are normal. With my tune I noticed I idle at 13.9 ratio instead of 14.7. So I guess my aftermarklet MAF was to blame. I dunno, that's what I came up with. I wish I can show you guys the file of before and after results. It's all on my PALM. Also, from what I have been told...if I run rich like I did...I lose hp and my muffler was said to be pretty restrictive. I'm new with this Autotap and I'm still learning about these parameter readings, so in the meantime, I hope you guys lead me in the right direction with feedback. Thanks..
