First Biggest Mistake with T/A - Warning Inside!!
Hey guys just to let you know.
Yesterday, after getting my dual exhaust re-installed I decided to give a little run. It was already getting dark, and boy the car pulled CRAZY, but as I slowed down to a complete stop my engine caught FIRE!!!!!
If it wasnt for the Cowl Hood, and the fact that it was already getting dark, I would not have caught it in time. I could see the flame, under the cowl.
anyways I immediately turn of the car, pop the hood, take of my shirt, and took the fire out. Call my boyz, got a flashlight over, to look at the damage: .........which leads to my warning.
WARNING:
You see my Taylor wires are covered with MSD Wire Heat protectors. (they are red sleeves) where they are close to the primaries. Also with the intention to keep the wires away from the primaries I used plain simple wire zip ties.
Well it got so hot that it melted my zip tie, and caught fire, the fire then caused the sleeves to go up in flame, now they are suppose to be flame retardant, and they did do their job, but the red ink that gives color to them acted like gasoline.
Well dont use ZIP ties near headers. and wathc out for those sleeves. They did do their job, although they are now just plain white in color. Red ink all vanished.
Ok Bye

Glad you caught it in time!!! That must have scared the crap out of you!!!
Another thing to note when using protectant sleeves like these or header wrap etc is that if you get oil on it and it is close to the primaries it will light up like a torch!! Keep fiberglass mesh etc clean.

im using MSD wires
and i have wire ties seperating them before they go into the opti (just about where the stock wire seprator is). No problem with them, my plug wires hang a little low, but it keeps them from tangling up and bouncing around to that manifold or getting water.
