finishing up the 355...which oil pump to get?
Why'd you get the high-volume pump?
Lingenfelter's book on rebuliding LT1's specifically addresses this issue and swears by the stock pump for every street machine. High volumes and excessive pressures just bleed more hp from the engine.
If it's street duty most of the time, get a GM pump and be happy our oil systems are one of the best designs around.
...but that's just what I've read, and what will be in my 383.

I currently am using the Mellings 10555 Hi-volume Race pump. I dont remember the part number for the pickup, but the guys at Combination Motorsports set me up with one. Just give them a call and I am sure they have the pumps and pickups in stock. I paid like $58 for the pump and another 10 or so for the pickup.
FYI, this pump might try to suck the stock pan dry under hard acceleration. To fix this you might want to get a Canton Oil pan. My car will have one in a few weeks.

I'm running a blueprinted speed pro 224-100R high volume pump rated @ 65psi with the stock pan and have had no problems under hard acceleration with oil pressure. There's no way I would run the stock pump with my motor.
