fans wont kick on

Ok I have no idea if this has been posted before or not but I'm going to ask anyways. I have a 1996 Pontiac Firebird Formula. The fans do not kick on. I usually shut it off after it hits 210 degrees. I guess the thermostat, the fan relay, and wiring was checked and it wasn't any of that. Soo the question here is... What temp should the fans kick on? And if something is wrong what would it be?

I'm sure it's a rather broad spectrum of things it could be but I am new to the LT1's.

You aren't even waiting until the factory programming of 226° when they come on. You have no worries at this point.

Cooling system info.

OK thanks for the link it really helped. I guess I'm not used to engines getting over 210. Electric fans are something I haven't messed with a whole lot. Or cars with computers

Re: fans wont kick on

I have had the same problem as Fecht694. When my 97 Z28 was new I know that the temp never exceeded 210 without the fans coming on under any circumstances. When the car was about 10 YO, I got caught in a bad traffic jam. As the temp climbed, I expected the fans to kick in at 210 but they never came on. When the temp climbed past 210, I pulled over and shut the car off. I took it to a shop and they ran the car at idle and the fans never came on. the temp eventually hit around 240. I became concerned and I reached into the car to shut it off. The shop never found any malfunction except that the fans never kicked in. I eventually figured out that the fans would always kick in at 210 if the A/C was on and I never had an issue again because I would just turn on the A/C if it got close to 210. I am really surprised to hear that they aren't supposed to come on until 226/7.
