Exhaust Noise

Please help me identify this sound. I do not notice it while the car is above 2k RPMS...however...sometimes, when the car is idling, it sounds as if the hatchback area is being subject to large gusts of wind. That is the best I can describe it. I believe it is coming from the exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 97 z w/56k miles and I had flows installed last month, a week before that I replaced two fuel injectors, and a week before that I installed a K&N filter (the day I purchased the car). This noise started to days ago. Also, sometimes during acceleration I have hear what sounds like very faint "crackles" coming from the exhaust as well. These two sounds started around the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -=Tommy=-

That sound would be the crappy Flowmaster you put on your car. Flowlessmaster exhausts are a complete joke. They flow just as good if not worse than stock exhaust. And give off that god awful popping noise under acceleration and deaccerlation. I would put the stocker back on and get a cut-out, lots more power, but still sounds horrible. You should do a search here before you purchase anything, that way you can get opinions and dyno numbers to see if it is worth the money.

I'm not exactly sure what type of sound you're talking about, but maybe your exhaust is rubbing on something in the back of the car. Just crawl under there and check the clearance between the exhaust and the heat shields and such.

Not sure about the sound description. Could you clarify it anymore?
