Exhaust for LT1

I am really having a hard time trying to decide what exhaust to choose on my Z. I have a 97 LT1 with port and polished heads and a 5 angle valve job. I currently use the SLP dual/dual out the driver side exhaust. It gets a great rumble but it's not as loud as I would like it to be. I want a dual outlet exhaust with a great LOUD sound. Can anyone please give me some suggestions?

If u want loud go loudmouth, or go with headers into a bullet into a dump, that should be loud

From what I've heard, Loudmouth is the loudest, but it also is raspy. I would suggestinstalling a cut-out if you want loud or go to a custom dump setup. Both of those will be very loud and the best performance wise.

I agree with him. You already have a good ehaust system on there. I would go with an electric Cutout that way you have the option of how loud you want it. There is a GP about to happen on the DMH cutout which is supposed to be the best one.

yeah i would say if you have already got a decent exhaust on your car why change? But, I just put loudmouth on my stock 96ss about three months ago and i love it!! It is nice and deep at idle and wicked at WOT. I guess it is all what you are looking for but I wouldn't change my exhaust for nothing except maybe GMMG.. No rasp whatsoever...hope this helps

Loudmouth

Do you get allot of popping out of it? The guy from SLP said the LT1 was made for the LS1. And the LT1 tends to pop allot. How does it look on your car?

i like the looks of it on my car...i got the 3.5 inch tips on mine and installed it myself...i've never heard it "pop" or much less be raspy. But i have heard loudmouth on my friends car and it does pop when it is cold. Basically you gotta ask yourself what you are looking for as far as sound...i mean when it comes to searching for the right exhaust everybody is going to say their's sounds the best but if i was you i would just try to find someone that has what you're looking for and can hear it in person...hope this helps

I got an SS and went from 2otl to LM and wish I didn't. I LOVE my LM but I already had a catback. I would have just got an electric cut out and saved my money. JMO I also have SLP headers and don't get popin or rasp.

go with loudmouth but when you get it installed chuck that resonator in the dump and put pipe in its place . . .that what i did and it sounds so much cleaner no raspy popidy pop pop lol . . when you you put piping in place of the resonator you are just smooting out the air flow so it wont be popping . .
