exhaust

My stock muffler is toast. I have a 97 B4C/LT1. If I leave the stock Cats on, can I run straight 3" pipe back to rear of car, and not mess up computer settings? If I can stand the noise, is backpressure an issue? What sounds good until I get the headers installed? thanks for your input. deputyb

Re: exhaust

If you can stand the noise, it will work. There is an off chance you will get an occasional DTC having to do with the EGR because there isn't enough backpressure for the computer to tell the EGR is working correctly, but otherwise, if you keep the cats, it should be fine.

Re: exhaust

you should be perfectly fine not running any kind of muffler.

with the cats in place the noise shouldn't be horrible.

unless you plan to do true duals, buying a catback won't be a waste even before headers. headers are usually desinged with a Ypipe that connects to the exhaust...or catback...in the stock manner. you won't have to buy anything different.
