Exhaust

In everyones opinion (I'll take as many as I can get) what is the best sounding header, cat, and cat-back system combination out there? Also what is the best sounding catback system? When replying please try to explain (throaty, muscle, etc, etc) the tone and how loud it is. Also if sound clips are available please send them to me. Thanks.

Also when it comes to the catback systems for these cars I mainly hear borla, corsa, and loudmouth are the big names. Is there anyone out there that can compare these systems? Thanks.

i just put borla on my car with a cat and i dont really like the way it sounds. its to deep and throaty sounding and its to guiet but im taking the cat off and i heard that makes a real big difference. i think my dual exhaust sounded the best. i like the flomaster cat back the best cause its kinda high piched, my friend has it with hooker lt's and it sounds really good

Hooker longtubes and true duals with x-pipe is the best
I have heard a 98Z with longtubes and borla and it sounds good also, but have never heard it at wide open throttle. Corsa has a nice tone to but it is a little expensive like the borla $600-700. Flowmaster is good sounding and cheap but the flow is not as good for a singe exhaust car. Loudmouth is nice and have head no complaints about it and it is loud. If you have emissions and cant do true duals then a good set of headers and a hooker catback is one of the best ways to go in terms of sound, money and performance. It has a nice deep sound at idle but not to loud and really screams at wide open throttle. Just remember true duals are cheaper then any catback out there.

What do you mean by the stainless steal rasp? Not familiar with that word. Well the origional plan was to put true duals on my car but no shops here in memphis,tn will do it so I'm kinda sol with that. Thats why I am asking about the cat-backs.

im personally a fan of the gmmg chambered. Its just so damn expensive. Chambered and long tubes are the way to go for sure.

Check my sig. Nice tone at cruising and screams at WOT. The cutout made a big difference over the cat. The car pulls hard in the upper rpms.

If you want a free flowing, more performance exhaust. Then go with either Borla or the SLP Two on the Left (2OTL - all though they call it something else... I can't remember but thats going to bug me so I'm going to check... just checked on slponline.com under exhaust.. they call it the slip fit). Cat backs that enter on one side and both exit on the other side flow much better.

If you want the true dual exhaust look... and your not too big on performance.. then go with something like the loudmouth. I wouldn't recommend Flowmaster... heard they aren't very free flowing.. and I've heard one in real life.. they are way to timid for my liking. I love the way hooker sounds as well.

Exclamation Exhaust

Ill let you know for sure in a few days when I put on my GMMG but here is the list for best sounding and performing. If you want more info on anything please PM me. When searching for the perfect exhaust for my 1994 Z28, I spent countless hours researching and here is the list. Out of it I picked GMMG. Which is well known as the best sounding exhaust a very close second to true duals.

1. Duals (best sounding overall, somewhat messy b/c exhaust often dumps off before the alxe, best performance gain, to loud for some peoples daily drivers)

2. GMMG - Best sounding cat-back in my opinion (do a search on this and you'll find no one has anything bad to say about it. Best flowing cat-back in my opinion (made of basically straight through pipes with dimples on the sides for sound character, and does not utilize the crossflow design)(supposedly cut-out gains you nothing on this) All T-304 SS construction. Used on special edition Camaro's like the Berger SS and ZL1 Super Car http://www.gmmginc.net/html/chamberedexhaust.html Read up on it here. Uses similar chambered exhaust used on the 1st generation Camaro's -=Best cat-back period=- (IMO)

3. Magnaflow (My second choice, best value, good overall sound, SS made, good performance, someone got 26 rwhp with SLP CAI and catback)

Others, I personally just didnt like the sound or construction. I'd get SS if I were you I dont know what the one fellow was talking about is rasping more b/c of SS ?!>? SLP 2OTL is a good system but not my style to have uneven tailpipes. Others are ok but I just didnt like something about them. Hope this helps. BTW the GMMG didnt cost me too much I got it used for much less than a borla would cost.

As far as cats I dont think it matters, but removal of them sometimes causes rasp. LT's cause a bit of rasp depending on the setup but shorties and mids arent as bad.
