engine temp sensors
i pulled the wire off of the temp sensor in the front of the motor cause the fan would no kick on and the car was running really hot, like hovering just under the red, now it runs a lot cooler but the problem is that now its hard to start and the ses light is on. I was wondering if these two are related or if something else is wrong

Re: engine temp sensors
the PCM needs that sensor for correct fuel trim, which is why the SES is on and it starts hard, you need to find out why the fans arn't working correctly,or what else is wrong with the cooling system, with that sensor unplugged, the fans run consantly anytime the key is on

Re: engine temp sensors
it is possible that the temg gauge is incorrect, temp might be fine...........

Re: engine temp sensors
There two sensors, the one on the water pump is for the fans and the one on the drivers side head is for the coolant temp sensor.

You can find cooling system testing tips in the "How To" section of my Tech Page.

Re: engine temp sensors
Robs' tech pages are awesome!! me has gone to a lot of work to put all the info on there. everything you wanted to know about a F-body is there.

Re: engine temp sensors
When you say your car is running hot...Define hot. LT1's stock run around 210-220.
