Engine swap :(

Hey all I just bought a 95 Z28 A4 Pole Green.(finally my first 4th gen (even though ive had this screen name for a couple years now) ). I bought it for 1700.00, with 167,000 Miles. So you can guess that it needs a motor, Ive done some searches and have decided to remove the engine from the top of the car rather than the bottom. My question is... is there anything that I should be aware of? I have replaced several engines from 3rd and 2nd gens, but is there anything special about 4th gens that I should look out for? Thanks in advanced for any help.

Go buy a happy hooker from TPIS... It will make pulling it out of the top a whole lot easier

Yessum, get a engine leveler like seven said. A cherry picker would help too lol. Easy-to-do, take the fans/rad off, slip the driveshaft out of the trans,(spray the torque arm bracket with lube (should slip off the torque arm) take the 2 mount bolts out and it comes out in one large hunk of metal. (Drain oil and trans.)

I placed my rear tires about 8 inches of the ground on blocks this way the nose of the vehicle is lowered. The only problem i had was the EWP hit a little, you should be fine tho.

Did you remove the accesories, alt. ect?

I took all the accessories off the front of mine before I pulled it out. You'll have to disconnect the shocks on the hood and set it straight up for everything to clear.

you can do it in half the time out the bottom with only a winch

I've done two out the bottom. I find it easy. Plus when your putting it back in if yoru doing it from the bottom it makes things so much easier to just hook up.
