Engine Sensor Fuse Keeps Blowing???
Engine Sensor Fuse Keeps Blowing???
I just completed my header install, but now a problem has arisen. The engine sensor fuse keeps blowing. Because of this, the MAF isn't getting any readings which makes the car missfire badly when I go past 1/4 throttle. Another thing that happens is the reverse solenoid in the transmission is staying out making it very difficult to put the car in reverse.
Any Ideas??????????????

You most likely melted the wiring harness that goes between the passenger header and the inner fender well. Through this sensor are the wires for the heated O2 sensors and power to the MAF. The easiest way to tell is to pull out the engine sensor fuse and put the leads from a voltmeter in it place. With the car turned on but not running start pinching the harness in question. If the reading shows 12volts you have found the short that keeps blowing the fuse. You will then have to disconnect everything and open the harness up and either replace parts of the wires or just retape each one individually.
I speak from experience from my LT install, I had this same problem for 4 months because the shop said they couldn't find the problem.

Ok thanx man I'll check it out
On a side note, I noticed that there is a wire or cable that got burnt from the header on the driver side. The wire or cable runs to the throttle body and it has hard plastic insulation. I can't check it out now cause I'm at work, but if this contains 2 or more wires inside they could be shorting out and causing the problem.

Ok I fixed it
It was an air pump harness. I took out the air pump and the harness was dangling on the header. I cut the harness off and no more engine light
I do have some plug wire issues though. I don't think some wires are connected to the opti properly. That will all be sorted out after the Canucks game
