Here's an engine removal guide I put together. I might have done a few steps that didn't have to be done.

Comments are welcome!

Thanks Jeff, u've done a great service to me and i'm sure many other novices. I was just deating with my parents yesterday about "dropping the engine block" They thought the only way to do it was lifting it out the top and I told them otherwise now i have concrete proof. I am also planning to do some massive engine work but you made it real easy on me showing where things are ahead of time. Great thread and thanks for taking the time and will to educate us non-mechanics!:)

you did a really good thing with all those pics, I wonder if shoebox might add it to his site

That's exactly where the wooden jackstands came from. They were very stable. Maybe I should add a credits section! Or a link to that site.

I know I've used Shoebox's site to get things straight in my head too. And other places too.

Wow, thanks so much, very ambitious

Even if one isn't pulling the engine, the pictures are nice just to see where things are for other projects.

I can't email a file that large with Comcast. I can send it over AIM though.

I would love to see this guide, as I need to remove a motor, except my word pad says unable to load graphics conversion filter, and then causes and error and fails. Is there anything I can do??

I think you are tring to open it using the wrong Program....It wants to open in Microsoft Word, Not wordpad. See if you can open it by selecting Word, (Assuming you have it) and you should be able to view it perfectly.....Great write-up!!!!
