OK on the interstate on the way home i had my foot at a steady spot on the pedal going about 70 and the car seemed like it was jumping kinda, the RPMs jumping up about 300 rpms then back down 300 or so OVER AND OVER and it seems like it started happening after the car had been running for a bit. this has got me so scared and mad, i hope someone has had this problem before and can help PLZ!

How is the opti? Do you have a MSD installed?

what yr make vehicle? How many miles? Have you changed the water pump recently? Or a tune up recently,wire change plugs?

 

Something very similar happened to me, however it did not jump 300rpms either direction. More like 50-100, felt like a misfire or the opti was wet. It winded up being a fuel filter, easy fix. It made the car run like crap though.

 

Your opti could be going bad depending on your miles.Check my last statement some go out just because! If you've changed your water pump recently the opti could have gotten wet with coolant.You might have a bad plug wire,if you've changed them recently make sure they are All seated. Fuel filter could be clogged. Sorry about being all over the place,but these things have happened to me.
