engine diagnostic codes
engine diagnostic codes
I just recently replaced my distributor and istalled a fan switch in my car. It had been several months since I had driven the car so I didn't know what codes were on it when it quit. I had it scanned at autozone and they told me it was P1641 and P1642, I know these are because of my fans, when I turn the switch on (I'll be fixing that this weekend). But I'm thinking they left a code out or it's one of these that is messed up. After I got my car running it had no codes and I hadn't turned on the fans. After it warmed up, the SES light came on. I'm not sure if it's these codes they gave me or not, I have a feeling it isn't, unless it can detect the switch in there and sets it off. I thought it might be that I had my A/C relay out, so I put it back in, but that didn't help. Could it be that a fan relay is bad and I don't know it, or could it be the switch just setting it off? It seemed to only happen when it warmed up, but now it stays on all the time. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Aron

I figure I will after I get the switch done right. It irritates the hell out of me, because I've spent days working on the car and I still have that damn orange light staring at me, seeming brighter all the time, like it's mocking me. Hopefully, one code won't get lost in the guy's head on the way into the store. Thanks for the replies. Would I get a code if I keep the A/C relay out? My A/C is screwed up and I don't want to screw up and make it worse.
