engine cooling issues...

okay just about done rebuilding the 97 camaro... running her and come to conclusion that the low coolant sensor is bad so ive disconnected that but it appears my cooling fans are not turning on and that my engine temp guage is not functioning.

couple questions..

1) the engine temp gauge is run by the sensor located on the manifold right?
2) if the sensor is bad would this be causing the engine light to come on and stay on..?
3) i checked the fans motors by hooking up to 12 volts and they work fine... what would cause them to not turn on.. .is it also controled by this sensor or is there a fuse... im missing my fuse box so not sure which relays do what...?

thnx

1) The coolant sensor on the drivers side cylinder head feeds to the temp gauge on the dash, the coolant temp gauge on the waterpump housing feeds to the PCM.

2) Are you talking about a Service Engine Soon light?

3) Lots of things could cause your fans not to operate properly. Bad ground, bad relay, bad sensor etc.

I would guess that you have a bad sensor and once you replace that your fans will work and the light will go off.

Here you go compliments of shoebox' site:
http://shbox.com/1/fan_schematic_1995.jpg

Be aware that for 94, theres 'early production' [dual single speed primary and secondary fans]that have 2 underhood fan relays, and 'late production' [dual two speed fans] that have 3 underhood fan relays...
Both wiring schematic diagrams are on the above page...
Should help you troubleshoot it..
