Engine build gurus I am stuck! Cool swap inside...
Alright, I am nearing completion on my LT1 build and have come to a fork in the road... First off I am going to tell you my goals, dont laugh!
1) 500rwhp on a gen II small block using a hydraullic roller setup. 2) A road race worthy/streetable car with a good mid range cam 3) 23 degree Trickflow cylinder heads 4) did I mention I am using a hydraullic roller setup with 23 degree heads? Ok, are you done laughing? Well here is my build to this point... A fully forged 396 stroker with... SHORT BLOCK -5cc flat top pistons for apprx 11.2:1 compression ratio -6 inch Scat H Beam rods -Full ARP bolts and studs HEADS Trickflow with stage 3 port work Original springs/retainer setup that came on these heads from Trickflow. INTAKE Edelbrock Airgap intake...really cool piece! Throttle Body BBK 58mm FUEL SYSTEM -Racetronix setup with the walboro 255lph and harness kit -Lucas 37 lb/hr injectors VALVETRAIN -Comp Pro-Mag 1.6 full roller rockers -Crane hardened pushrods -Crane hyd. lifters -Trickflow double spring setup...I guess its good for massive lift...so they say MISC -Heavy duty timing setup -March 25% underdrive pulleys -Taylor 8mm wires with over the valve cover loommmmm -Canton valve covers....neato I am going to be swapping the original longblock and the 4L60E for this engine and a T56 here in about a month so... HERES WHERE I NEED THE TECH HELP! Alright, I have a new 236/246 nitrous cam that I was going to put into this thing, however, I no longer intend on spraying this engine. This said, I now understand that I need to go bigger on the bumpstick to have a shot at my power goals. What is a reasnable...streetable cam, that can double as a great midrange road racer? I thought about going solid on the valvetrain but opted for longevity with the hydraullic setup. REALISTICALLY, what must I do to reach my power goals? 500rwhp without spray...I know this is a tough feat and could really use some direction here. Also, what do you think about that 11.2 compression ratio? I could manipulate that slightly with headgasket thickness... Any advice is appreciated! Charlie |
