Eliminating the steam pipe on LT1s

Anyone know if this will affect anything. I mean like seriously affect? I have heard of it being done but what are the consequences?

hot spots because of air pockets, i ran mine for a year and a half like that b/c i didnt know the previous owner plugged the holes. When i had my heads off i tapped the holes and put pipe fittings and made my own crossover.

Higher risk of damaging your heads if local boiling or trapped air occur. Steam pipe is worth having!

um just curious what is the steam pipe is that the crossover tube on the back of the motor between the heads?

i am going to retain it but I am in need of a source to buy a new one. I called my dealership and they never had one nor can get them.

Exactly, And i think there soembody making kits on ebay that look pretty nice. But i would build my own, threre not that hard to make.

What kind of dealership cannot get their own company's parts?
I guess they will be going out of business real soon.
There are GM parts sources listed on my Tech Page.

I have one that is almost brand new, the holes in the back of my heads were stripping so i had to make my own fitting with bigger NPT threads. Let me know if you wanna buy it.
