Electrical taping a ground wire...

Is this a good Idea or not? I have a wire that seems to be the problem of all my issues. It is long, steel braided. I am thinking about taping it with electrical tape so if it makes contact with a metal surface, it wont affect anything.

I would think so, just wrap it up in electrical tape real good..

I thought so too, just making sure.... :)

If its a ground wire, why would there be a problem if it touched a "metal surface"? All the metal surfaces should already be grounded, and at the same potential as the ground wire.

The ground wire is long, it can potentially try grounding to another point if I run over a bump and it sways....there is much play in the wire...

my car threw all kinds of codes....lean, est grnd, misfired, and when I adjusted this wired, it was fine. Last night took the car out and ran great wth the wire tucked away. Grounds=problems when not grounded correctly.

Re: Electrical taping a ground wire...

that is not from it touching, it is from corrosion at the ends, I would remove it and clean the ends

which ends, plugs? The has silicone on them....what corrosion are you referring to?

What is this wire connected to?
