Electric water pump benefits...
 
Anyone else think that maybe thet fact that we have a cam driven water pump is attributed to the fact that often times the front cam bearing seems awfly worn when inspected? Maybe that's a primary cause for spun bearings? Has this been discussed before?

Few people spin a cam bearing as opposed to a rod bearing or a main.

EWP does remove stress off that front cam bearing though, frees up a few horsepower from less parasitic loss, cools better at idle and low cruising speeds, and eliminates that pile of crap weep hole. I love mine.

about every 3,500 motors we build 2 might have spun cam bearing. its the mains and rods everyone spins on lt'1s

Random thought: Well the biggest culprit before spun main/rod bearings are usually signs of low oil pressur right?

Well maybe the excessively worn out front cam bearing and a new cam can cause extra metal shavings to float around the engine, introducing extra wear and some metal shavings to the other bearings. Also, since the cam isn't mated to the worn bearing, it could cause some oiling issues that will lower oil pressure throughout the motor. Eventually this leads to overheated bearings and with the lack of oil, spun bearings??

Possibly, but they wear slower then any other bearing in the motor, because the cam turns at 1/2 the speed of the rest of the bearings.

the front cam bearing is also the easiest to see so it might apear more worn even though it is not.

My front bearing was hella worn when I did my cam swap, so before putting the new cam in I just got a new front cam bearing and put it in, the worn front cam bearing if it spins will also first kill the main bearing since the hold 6 o'clock goes to the front main bearing, if blocked will kill the main bearing first cuz like as mentioned the crank spins twice as fast, no?
