EGR problem

After the longtube install, i couldnt get the EGR tube back into the fitting on the header, so i left it open for the time being just so I could get home from the shop and to school this morning. My question is will running it open hurt anything other than the fact that it is an exhaust leak? And also can I use a piece of sheet metal or aluminum to block off the EGR on the header side?

I would try to plug the fitting on the headder, other than that, the pump is just pumping fresh air. Won't hurt.

your thinking of the AIR fittings, the EGR tube is on the #8 primary and goes to back of the intake.
