Ebay LT1 intake

Has anyone tried this item?

That's a homemade intake that is probably not that efficient. To me it looks like it does not go far enough down into the wheel well for a CAI. It probably sucks in a lot of engine heat. i would not not get it. Go with K&N or SLP.

I could be wrong but... wouldnt the engine heat warm up the metal tube causing it to warm up the air being sucked in... defeating the whole purpose of a CAI?

I have a friend w/ a 94 LT1 with one of thos - the metal side does get very hot, however the inner portion remains relatively cool (I checked his after 30 mins of driving because that was a good point brought up above). It does not extend as far down as other CAI models, but unless you are willing to cut up that plastic hang and risk water entry for a little hp gain, that is a decent location to intake. So in my opinion, ebays CAI is better than stock flow of air, only due to the fact that it uses a cone filter. So you will get the same hp gains from ebays CAI, making your own, or trying to rig a cone filter on your stock intake.
