Dyno results from LE LT4 heads and Bret Baur cam

Gentlemen, I just got back from Carolina Auto Masters after a 12 hour round trip drive and all I can say is it was worth the trip. Jeff Creech made 9 pulls and we settled on 404 sae rwhp and 423 sae rwtq. I am very happy with the results and the H/C package I got from Lloyd did exactly what I wanted.
I asked for a cam that would make 400+ A4 rwhp and peak around 6500. The cam peaks at 6400 and stays almost flat to 6600 where it drops off.
All I can say on the cam is it only has 230 duration!

I can say a little more on the heads from Lloyd.

.200 = 138/105 .300 = 202/139 .400 = 249/167 .500 = 281/183 .550 = 294/189 .600 = 303/193 .650 = 306/198 Dayuum!

I dynoed with RK Sport mids, no cutout, full Magnaflow catback, stock water pump, belt on, stock steel driveshaft, and 315/35/17 Nitto DR's.
Jeff said I could expect 15+ hp with a cutout so 420 rwhp is certainly possible.

Great numbers. I hope to hit the same soon. I'm curious as to how much HP is there if dynoed with 275/40 rear tires. What stall converter and how much stall are you running?

Thanks gentlemen. The wide, soft tire increases the drag on the roller so a narrow, hard tire would lessen the drag. How much is it worth? Not much, but I believe you could do back to backs and it would be enough to show on the chart.
I'm using a 2800 Mid-West. 12" lock-up side and 9.5" stall side. I like it but Jeff said the 2800 Precision is more efficient on the dyno.

Sweet! I'm getting the LE3 package and the custom LE2 cam from him. What do you think roughly my numbers will be with all the supporting mods on an a4? I would say around 405 RWHP? Nice numbers man! I'm getting a 3200 stall, 4.10 gears, and all the bolt ons.

It's hard to predict someones power. Lloyd is pretty good at it though.
I will tell you this, it is not easy getting 400+ rwhp through an A4.
Killer heads on a stroker makes it a little easier.
BTW, I got 17.5 mpg coming home at 75-80 mph with a 3.73 gear.

I'll be getting a new Moser 12 bolt and a new FLP stage 4 transmission I'll be able to put the power to the ground with some suspension mods! If you don't mind me asking, how much roughly was the whole swap?

Nice numbers. Now get it to the track where the numbers really mean something.

Great #'s!

What's your valvetrain set up? Did you get beehives?

I have RK's with Magnaflow as well on my A4 - it's good to know the combo works!

Did you go for driveability? Seems like a fairly small cam for a 383. I'm suprised it peaked so late though.

Good numbers Dean.....

Lloyd E-mailed me earlier about them. I'm not suprised to see the cam peak at 6400rpm with those heads. It's funny but I just was reading a old engine building book by Wadell Wilson. He's a old NASCAR builder who taught Yates back in the day. His section on cam specs would suprise most guys but it was true and even applied here with the "small" duration cam.

BTW you gotta change your sig.... It's Bauer you missed that E....

It's ok people either butcher the BreT with two T's or adding a N to it or even the last name.

Re: Dyno results from LE LT4 heads and Bret Baur cam

I was thinking, "pretty good numbers", until I saw that you have an A4, and dynoed through the full catback with the 315 tires. I'd say they are much better than "pretty good"; Awesome numbers! Very Impressive.

Are you able to keep any power planted on the street, or are 1st and 2nd gear useless with 315 street tires. Just curious how it is with that much TQ, if you punch it from a roll in 1st or 2nd.
