Dying in the rain

I have a 95 Z28 in excellent condition. Whenever it rains in Tucson Arizona which is not very often, the car just dies if I go thru a puddle, and I'm talking about just a small puddle. Even when driving slowly thru a puddle, it just shuts right down. I pull it to the side and in a few minutes it'll start. I've had this issue since I've had the car, and can't beleive Chevrolet would sell a car that did this.

Any ideas as to what the resolution could be?

Thanks

Hmm.. here's a possibility: Check to make sure that all of your plug wires are firmly seated on the opti, especially the coil wire. If one of them is loose, it could be on there just enough that it runs fine when dry, but as soon as it gets even a little wet, it arcs out and bam.. it dies.

Make sure nothing electrical is getting soaked and that your CAI isn't sucking up water. Do you have the splashguard on?
+1 here, I've driven through some torrential stuff in my v6 and in my Z-28 and haven't had any problems.

I would check all the connections of your ignition system. You can always get a spray bottle and try to mimic the problem that way as well.

What kind of spark plug wires do you have? When I had Elite sparkplug wires I had to push my car home in the rain, then I switched to MSD's and it runs fine now.

Your not the only one to make that complaint, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't been stranded with their wires.

I live in Tucson as well, and have had similar problems, however it is usually going through 4+ inches of rain. Mine will never just shut off, but i couple times I'll get a flashing check engine light. I am also convinced, like others, it is the opti getting wet. I really neer have tried to fix it, I just choose my roads closely in the rain.

For those you you who don't now, we get flash floods here and have horrible drainage problems city wide.
