Driveshaft CLUNK!!

Question; when at a complete stop I shift into gear and just start letting out my clutch--I hear a clunking noise from the rear. it's enough to kinda jerk the car a little forward and it happens only sometimes like when it is at normal operation temperature; otherwise I hear and feel nothing. Any ideas anyone? It is more pronounced in first from a stop and gradually goes away higher up in gears. Does that sound like loose bolts in my shaft? (I said shaft, HUHUHUH) seriously I'm a little clueless, Thanks in advance

Universal joint maybe.

Two most common problems would be worn u-joint or excessive backlash in the rear gearset. Time to climb under there and inspect

Some other problems may be worn suspension bushings or even a loose spare tire clunking around.

With a set of 4.11's

You can try resetting the gears but there's certainly no garauntee they'll be quiet after being worn in this configuration.

U-Joints.... simple check. Raise the vehicle on safety stands. Remove the driveshaft (4 bolts on the rear diff)... that's it. Then with the driveshaft out, wiggle both joints... they should be tight. If one is really sloppy, just change it out. You can use sockets and a vise/clamp to press it out and in.

Or, I had a problem with my Torque Arm. It is an LG Torque Arm and has two bolts that hold the differential to the Torque Arm (the other end is connected to the Transmission). One of my bolts was two full turns loose. Tightened it up and it is as good as new.
