Doing the LT1 carb conversion was the best thing I ever did for my car.

I personally love carbed motors, for different reasons. I love when ever you ride in a old muscle car, and you can smell the fuel fumes coming right off that carb, and the whole sound of the car is different.

I think carburation is the way to go, IMO. Nothing quite like being able to adjust the A/F ratio with a .79 cent screwdriver instead of hundreds of dollars worth of computer equipment.
And the sound a 4 barrel makes at WOT is priceless.

im going with a 1200cfm 4 barrel throttle body. on a single plane intake with dfi. should "sound" interesting if i can hear it over the exhuast and solid roller.
glad you are happy with the car,you did what you felt was right.

simplicity is the KEY!!!DOWN with the smog *****!!!!!!! Carb uses a little more fuel but were talking at a miniscule scale (not a big difference between between rich and lean). The mileage lost will mostly be due to going wit a 3 sp. tranny.
I have both fuel injected and carbed cars And their both fun to drive in totally different ways. I love the throttle responce of my T/A And I love the brutality of my high 9 sec Regal. Witch one would I rather tune? The regal hands down , carbs are easier to tune for max hp period. But as far as going to the track for an easy night of racing thats the T/A s teritory I can show up and even as the temperature drops through the night I dont have to pop the hood for one second where as with my regal I would be reaching for my jet case. Getting the t/a to that point has been frustrating and expensive so for that reason I see where he is coming from and for that reason carbs will be around for a long time.
Well, the carb may have been the quick fix, but there are guys running the same times with the stock computer and similar mods so I don't think you really made much progress. The biggest issue you're going to run into is that most of the nation is changing to tougher emissions standards and it's illegal to run a carb on a FI vehicle on the street. You will eventually have to go back to FI or be stuck driving the car at the track only. You could also be fined or even have your vehicle taken away from you. So in the effort to save money and make things easier, it may cost you a lot more in the end. If you want to drive a carbed vehicle, buy a 60's or 70's car. Sorry, not trying to be harsh or anything, but the reality is that things are getting tougher.
I am considering doing this as well. I don't drive my car everyday, it just sits in the garage most of the time. I've been through 4 optis in the last 10k, tuning is a friggin nightmare, I've had 2 mailorder tunes and a dyno tuner that after a month gave me my car back and my money and said "I'm not working on it anymore, good luck.".
One point everyone is forgetting is that while carb motors make more peak horsepower...peak isn't what matters. It's so easy to adjust other areas in the powerband on a fuel injected motor.....unlike a carb setup. The fuel injected cars of the same horsepower as a carb setup will always be faster.

Yup, these enhanced emissions tests are coming to an area near you soon. NJ will soon be checking your OBDII computer to see if there is any programming done to disable emissions controls as well. Going to a carb will get you fined and possible loss of vehicle. People who removed their cat's will be required to put them back as well. If you removed your smog pump, you will fail the visual for it not being there.
