Do i have a Traction Control System?

A while ago some one told me if i didnt have a switch to turn the traction contron on and off then i didnt have traction controll but last night some one said they think i could still have it. So what is the best way to tell if i have traction control or not? Where would the comuter for the tcs be or any of the controlls for it?

Now if i do have it how in the hell do i turn it off!

BTW i have a 97 LT1 A4

i have a '97 with TC and the button is located right next to your foglight button, it'll be labeled ASR. Just push the button and the light on your guages should light up as ASR OFF. (if you have TC that is)

EDIT: uh oh, my bad. after posting, i realized you have a Bird instead of a Z. i dont know if its the same in those or not. But i'm sure the ASR part is. Check your owners manual, it should tell ya all about it in there.

I don't have it, and I noticed in the fuse box that there is a place for a ASR (or whatever) fuse that is empty. If you don't have this fuse this would be a good clue!

well

i am looking for facts not clues..i am pretty sure that i do not have it but i need a difnate way to check...

Where are the controls located for the traction control...any one have a pic of an engine bay with and with out it?

i have a 95 trans am. you dont have traction control if you dont have the botton. PERIOD. if you have the botton it is on the drivers left side on the bottom of the headlight switch, or on the side/top of the center consol. your friend is confusing traction control with the low traction lite.

Here is a way to check:

Come to a full stop and hit the gas hard. If you see lots of smoke behind you, you don't have traction control!!. If the gas pedal kick back and the car won't go, then you do!! ;)

there will be a big electric motor directly to the rear of the throttle cable hook ups on the throttle body, between the driver side valve cover and the intake manifold

Timmy, I think you are confusing ABS brakes with traction control, they are two separate things although TCS uses ABS to do its job.

Like zerosheaven said, no TCS button (to turn it off/on) = no traction control.

There is still a light in the center of the tach that will come on some times over really rough pavement that says "lo trac". This does not mean you have a hidden traction control you can't turn off. That is the ABS module kicking that light on.

TCS equipped cars have a big black box/motor that sits above the driver's side exhaust manifold and the throttle cables go in and out of it. You can't miss it because I believe it is labeled ASR (acceleration slip regulation)
