Distributor for carbed LT1???

I was wondering what the best distributor to run on my car. I was thinking a points style with msd 6al, and blaster coil. The motor is in an 86 RX7, so clearance is an issue with the firewall. I have heard mixed opinions on aftermarket ones, such as the MSD, DUI, Mallory, ect. Some opinions I have heard is to upgrade a stock one and run a MSD box then its just as good as a aftermarket one. Any help or information would help me out alot.
thanks, Nicholas

I would not go back to points if I had a choice. They make regular distributors with optical sensors. If you have space limitations, you may just have to shop for a design that will fit.
