digital-6 plus
my car seems to run fine, even under load, but the LED on my msd digital-6 plus blinks. when i turn the key, the fuel pump turns on, my monster tach which is connected through my msd turns on, and the LED turns on steady. once i start the car, everything sounds ok, the tach is obviously working, but the LED is blinking. i have tested the connections and they seem to be fine so i guess it means i have a charging problem. how do i fix this? i dont think my altenator is failing because i have underdrive pulleys and it still keeps the battery charged, which i very recently replaced.

is there no one that knows these ignitions well?

How do you know that you're getting enough voltage? Did you actually check it with a voltmeter?
|
my digital 6 blinked when my car was running, and i never had alt or battery problems. went 11.0's on the juice with a blinking light.

Mine has never blinked. Not sure what your problem is?

According to the instructions, you either have a charging problem at low RPMs or you have a bad connection. Check your ground straps on the body and engine and the ground wire on the box. If you added length to the MSD power wiring, did you use a thicker gauge?
|
i did use higher gauge, and its less than a foot in extra length. i dont have a voltimeter, just one of those off/on light testers that checks current or not. the battery is a brand new everstart 690 crancking amps 12 volt. the reason i cant just let it go is that last week my old battery was dying, if the engine cranked, it sounded like a lawn mower when you didnt give it enough throttle. it had trouble idling without throttle, and under load it would bog, in first gear going up a very slight hill or even revving it with a decent amout of throttle. when i replaced the battery, it still started the same bad way so i connected the stock setup and just left the msd out of the loop. it has been running fine for the last week, so i try to test everything as much as i can and reconnect the msd. so now we are back to the original post, i have not tried driving it around yet, just revved it to see if it would bog and it didnt.
