Depends on what your sealing. Copper is high temp and then the blue is Ok for waterpumps and valvecovers and such. Car Craft did an artical not too long ago on this very subject. I bought a big tube of the copper for sealing my EGR ports and I pretty much use it for everything. The high temp stuff works good for me, now Loctite on the other hand you have to watch which one u use, the blue is for stuff you want to loosen again in the future the red stuff is for something you don,t plan on taking apart again unless you have too, it requires heat to loosen it up.

You probably won,t get much input on this, most people think RTV is RTV and except for some temperature sensitive ones, it is.

I've always had good luck with the copper RTV for anything heat related. I used the ultra black on the timing cover/oil pan and also for the water pump. Seems to work well. I know the black is suppose to resist oil.
