Difference between lash and preload
Difference between lash and preload
I know this is a dumb question but they seem to be the same from what I have been reading in here. I am trying to get no preload & 0-.005 lash I plan on turning the pushrod until I get resistance and then another 1/8 (max) turn on my 7/16 stud. Is this right for no preload and ~.005 lash?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Re: Difference between lash and preload
Lash is the amount of space between the rocker arm tip and the valve stem. Preload is the amount of compression added to the hydraulic lifter after zero lash.
Re: Difference between lash and preload
If you want no preload then you wouldn't be turning it 1/8th of a turn. If you are turning it 1/8th turn past 0 lash, then you will have 1/8th of a turn of preload.

That is what I thought, so it didn't make sense to have no preload & 0-.005 lash. Wonder why I was told to set it at that
