did I hurt my car by running stock PCM?

I got my cc306 put in, but i had to wait for the PCM which came today and i drove it for about 50 miles so far (from where i got it installed to my huose and to work twice) I did do couple hard runs for like a sec or two...

car idles like crap and sometimes stutters during like normal acceleration i guess cuz of the stock tuning and how rich its running....

did i hurt my car by driving the stock tune for 50 miles?

oh also, sometimes when i'm driving, or the car is idling at a light i get the flashing SES light which i thikn causes multiple misfires from running so rich... i hope this isnt bad either =/ it flashes for like 20 secs, and just stops flashing

god i hope i wont break anything lol

i doubt i'm hurting anything, but just had to make sure?

Nah. There have been members of this board who have ran their cars for quite awhile on the stock PCM using the 306.
Of course every car is different and I know of those who have done this and ran too rich to the point of risking washing out the rings.

Flashing SES is a constant missfire or dead cylinder. They way I've targeted them in the past was to insulate a pair of pliers and start yanking plug wires out of the opti as the car was running. You can only do this for the drivers side because the pass. side is buried under the idler pulley. I've heard (haven't done it) of people pulling the injector clips off of the injectors to target a dead cylinder for the pass. side.
After you find what cylinder(s) is/are missfiring then you can start checking the plugs and plug wires.

will it misfire from no tuning and running so rich? cuz i remember when i installed a wet nitrous kit on my v6, it didnt spray nitrous, so it only sprayed fuel, Which gave me the flashing ses which was from running too rich...

I guess this is normal since i'm dumping fuel like crazy (especially at idle which is where its happening the most) right? this should go away with the tune i assume because it only does it for like 10 secs, and goes away... it does it very seldomly (like once out of 20 times i'm at a light or so)

i'm pretty sure its tuning for both of us...

lets see what happens with the new PCM... if the probs get fixed with the new PCM, then there is a big chance urs needs a tune too...

imo were dumping too much fuel... we'll find out soon enough chris

I'm betting misfire. The car should run relatively well with your stock tune.

that much fuel can foul out spark plugs very quickly, I had it happen to me running a stock pcm with a rather nasty cam.

this might sounds dumb, but i had alost the same excact problem with mine. it was running soo rich/lean that an my passanger side intake manifold turned piping red hot!!!! anyways, i later went back into the rocker arms and reajuseted them. it turned out they where too tight, i fired her back up and it was running better but still had problems, i found out one of my vacuum lnes was disconected, turned it back on and it ran almost perfect except for it feeling like it wanted to die and it being a little rough. finaly i look under the car again and find out i had 2 wires crossed!!!! put them back in the proper location and even without a tune she was running almost perfect!!! so just recheck a couple of things, and make sure everything is in the right location.

Also, I've heard of the less tame cams causing the OBDII misfire detection to be triggered because of the valve timing. Somehow it causes a false detection.

I heard of this mostly with the Hotcam, but I imagine a cc306 would do it too.

lemme get this STUPID PCM (WHERE THE HELL IS IT!!!!!!!! ) and lets see if it still drives like crap, if it does, its time for wire checking, plug checking, and seing if i have any stupid vacuum thingies not connected...

i'm also thinking this might be cuz the EGR and AIR pump arent connected, and computer doesnt know that, and there is a big *** cam computer doesnt know either, and the vacuum line below the intake and couple other ones have been plugged

i hope its the PCM, where the hell is this thing!

so much for next day air, i hate USPS
